The Newtown Rugby League Football Club is deeply saddened to learn about the death of our long-time club historian, author and essayist, Terry Williams. A Newtown Jets man until the very end, Terry passed away just hours after hosting the club’s 2026 season launch at the Petersham RSL Club. We send our sincere condolences to his family and many friends.
The Newtown Jets were decisively beaten by the Penrith Panthers in their second and final trial match played at Henson Park on Saturday, 21st February. The Jets fielded a considerably changed team from the previous Sunday’s trial lineup that played so well against Parramatta.
Billy Magoulias, very much a Henson Park crowd favourite of recent years, has announced his retirement from rugby league. He became the toast of the Inner West in the 2019 Canterbury Cup (the NSW Cup) finals, setting up the winning try in the grand final against Wentworthville at Bankwest Stadium, Parramatta (now CommBank Stadium) in extra time.
